The San Diego Police Department arrested two men for aggravated assault after receiving a report of shots fired in the 200 block of W. St. Charles Street on Tuesday.
San Diego Police Department Officer Noel Cantu was dispatched at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to St. Charles Street in response to a call of shots having been fired.
San Diego Police Department officials said as officer Cantu arrived on scene he observed a man in the front yard of the home was bleeding.
Upon further investigation, it was deduced the man, Roel Lazo, was assaulted with a pair of brass knuckles and was bleeding profusely from his head.
As investigators arrived, police learned that during the assault, two suspects later identified as Dunn Everett and David Sanchez, had allegedly brandished a 9mm handgun and pointed it at Lazo.
In addition, one of the suspects allegedly fired two shots into the ground near Lazo.
The San Diego Police Department along with Duval County investigators were able to recover two shell casings and two projectiles from the scene.
An official with the San Diego Police Department said the investigation was handled quickly and thoroughly with arrests within an hour of the initial officer arriving on scene.
Police were able to track down the suspects at a residence nearby. Both men were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
