A third suspect in the murder of Jose Pepe Gallegos, who was gunned down in front of his residence four years ago, was arrested Tuesday morning in Corpus Christi, officials said.

Noe Gutierrez, 37, was arrested in the 1500 block of Williams Drive in Corpus Christi at 8:30 a.m. and was transported to the Jim Wells County jail. He is charged with the murder of Gallegos along with two other suspects who were already arrested.

“He was apprehended with no resistance,” said Jim Wells County sheriff investigator Carlos Araujo.

Texas Rangers of Alice and Corpus Christi assisted sheriff's officials with the arrest.

Servando Morales was also charged in connection with the murder and was served at the Nueces County jail on April 12. The first suspect arrested was Florentino Chapa, 43. Chapa was arrested on April 8 in San Diego on Luby Street and later transported to Jim Wells County jail

Gallegos was shot three times in the upper torso on Jan. 6, 2007 in front of his home in the Loma Linda subdivision off County Road 162, about four miles east of San Diego. Gallegos was the first homicide of the year in 2007.

Gallegos was a 1989 graduate of San Diego High School.

Gutierrez' bond was set at $750,000 and remains in the Jim Wells County jail.
