Alaniz accused of striking, pushing his ex-wife

An Orange Grove ISD Board Trustee was arrested Jan. 27 for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife at her residence.
Roel Alaniz, 40, was arrested at his residence by Orange Grove Police Officer Daniel Jaramillo on the charge of assault causing bodily injury.
Alaniz's ex-wife, Gloria Alaniz, filed a complaint to the department after the alleged assault Jan. 27.
According to the Jaramillo's report, Alaniz stated her ex-husband had assaulted her, "by striking her several times and pushing her down to the ground, kicking her head and body."
Jaramillo said he saw several red marks on Alaniz's face and scratches on her neck.
Alaniz told Jaramillo after the alleged attack, Roel Alaniz went back to his house down the street in the 300 block of E. Soyars St.
Jaramillo immediately went to locate Alaniz at his residence, where the board member stated he had just pushed his ex-wife, according to Jaramillo's report. At that time, Alaniz was arrested and transported to the Jim Wells County jail.
Alaniz's ex-wife provided the police with a written statement on the alleged assault.
Calls to Roel Alaniz for comment were not returned.
