Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. today
Staff Report, Alice Echo-News Journal
The Alice ISD School Board has several items to discuss during its regular meeting tonight, including a facilities update on the new William Adams Middle School and a financial update concerning fuel costs impact.
Under the action items portion of today's 6:30 p.m. meeting, AISD trustees will consider a renewal of the district's contract with ARAMARK for food services from 2008-2009. The district has a five-year contract with ARAMARK, which must be renewed annually.
The board will also consider approving property and casualty insurance for 2008-2013 with the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT). Because of its recent growth history, PCAT is offering renewals at discounted rates, including a 23.8 percent annual discount for a five-year renewal option, based on AISD's 2007-2008 rates.
Over the last five years, since becoming a member of PCAT, the district has been able to renew its coverage each year with no rate increase.
As part of the closed executive session, board members will hold a private consultation with the district's attorney via telephone to receive legal advice concerning the claims involving the City of Alice related to the William Adams Middle School addition and public improvements.
