Emergency crews worked throughout the day today responding to calls of flooded homes and vehicles, as Jim Wells County was drenched with rain from an upper level system. Mike Buchanan, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said more than five inches of rain fell in the city of Alice over a three-hour period this morning. The slow moving system is expected to continue to move through the area through Tuesday, bringing even more rain, Buchanan said. Flournoy Road, Farm-to-Market Road 665 and many other roads have been closed.
