Fired shots reported on Peter, Reynolds streets

The Alice Police Department is investigating a number of drive-by shootings that have reportedly occurred in the city in the past few days, and officials are asking for the public's help with the investigation.

Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno said the first shooting occurred in the 300 block of Peter Street during late evening or early morning hours of Saturday or Sunday.

In that case, multiple shots were reportedly fired at the home, and one bullet passed through the exterior wall of the home and struck a second wall in a room inside the home.

Several people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but no injuries were reported.

The second shooting was reported Monday in the 1800 block of South Reynolds shortly before 10 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene told officers a black four-door Ford pickup truck was observed driving by the residence, when up to five shots were heard coming from the vehicle. The vehicle reportedly sped away before a better description could be obtained.

No casings were found at the scene, and no damage was reported to the home.

On Tuesday night, officers on the south side of Alice on bike patrol reportedly heard several gunshots coming from the area of Reynolds Street, but the exact location of the shots could not be determined.

Bueno said it is not clear if the shootings are connected, and some information indicates shots may have been fired into the air at random.

Bueno warned that any discharge of firearms inside the city limits will be investigated and prosecuted by his department.

"This random discharge of firearms is dangerous," Bueno said. "If we find someone with a gun, we are going to prosecute them."

Bueno asked citizens with information related to the shootings to contact the Alice Police Department at 664-0186 or Crime Stoppers of South Texas at 664-STOP.
