A woman reported a robbery early Monday morning when a male friend of hers allegedly stole $1,000 from her wallet during a fight in a Best Western motel room in the 1300 block of S. Highway 281.

According to the report, at 12:15 a.m. Monday Officer Cristobal Gonzalez was dispatched to the Best Western, located at 1350 S. Highway 281, in reference to an assault and possible robbery.

Upon arrival, Gonzalez made contact with the victim who stated she had just been assaulted by a male friend who also took $1,000 out of her wallet and left running south from the area.

According to the report, the victim told Gonzalez she and the man were hanging out earlier that day and were then given a ride to the motel by another male friend of hers.

She stated to the officer that once in the room, her friend became upset and asked her why she was flirting with the friend who had given them a ride. She stated she was surprised the man was acting like that because they were not dating.

The victim told Gonzalez as she was laying on the bed the suspect then punched her on the left side of her jaw and then reached under her and tried to get her wallet.

She stated she and her friend struggled back-and-forth for the wallet, but he took her wallet, removed $1,000 from it and left with only the money.

EMS was notified and arrived to treat the victim who refused to be transported to the hospital. CID was also notified.
