A light late-season cold front is pushing through North Texas today, but it isn't reaching South Texas.

Instead, it is expected to drive humidity readings even higher in the area. Combined with a day-time temperature of about 100 degrees, the humidity should push the heat index to as high as 109 degrees, according to meteorologists.

Winds today are expected to be breezy with gust of between 20 and 25 mph.

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the area late Thursday. There is also a 20-percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Friday.
