A 12-year-old Alice boy who has been charged with the aggravated sexual assault of a 7- and 8-year-old boy was in court Monday for a detention hearing.
The juvenile detention hearing was held before Judge. L. Arnoldo Saenz in the County Courtroom of the Jim Wells County Courthouse.
Following the two-hour hearing, which was closed to the public, Judge Saenz ordered the 12-year-old boy remain in a juvenile detention facility for an additional 10 days.
Saenz declined to comment on any additional issues discussed in the hearing and placed a gag order on all parties involved in the case, prohibiting them from discussing the details with the public.
The 12 year old is expected to be brought before Saenz again for another detention hearing in 10 days.
The 12 year old was arrested Friday when his parents brought him to the Alice Police Department, following a four-day investigation by APD officers.
Lt. Luis Barrera of the Alice Police Department said Friday reports indicate the 12-year-old boy was at a Craig Street home on Feb. 3 for a sleep-over with a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy when the incident that led to the investigation allegedly occurred.
During the night, the 12 year old allegedly sexually assaulted the 7-year-old boy, and allegedly fondled the 8-year-old boy, Barrera said.
Barrera said one of the victims reportedly informed his parents about the alleged assault Monday morning, and the parents then reported the incident to the police.
The 7-year-old boy was reportedly taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital Monday for examination, and evidence of the assault was documented, police said.
Barrera said a third boy, age 8, is also being questioned regarding a possible third assault on a separate occasion.
