DAR Celebrates Constitution Week – Smugglers’ Pass Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the local chapter of DAR, celebrated Constitution Week. Constitution Week was declared to be observed from Sept. 14 to 20 by Governor Perry, as well as federal officials, and focuses on encouraging the public to learn more about the Constitution of the United States. The local chapter of DAR participated in Constitution Week by ringing church bells at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17. This is a tradition that is practiced by DAR chapters all across the United States. They are also presenting a book entitled “The Heritage Guide to the Constitution” by Edwin Meese, III to the Alice High School Library. Daughters of the American Revolution is an organization that promotes American heritage through means of preservation of historical documents, traditions and history. Membership is through proven direct descendance from a patriot or supporter of the American Revolution.
