A 24-year-old Alice man wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier this year was arrested Monday in San Angelo, Texas.

Authorities had been searching for Lorenzo Rodriguez, 24, since he was named as a suspect in a drive-by shooting that happened on Esperanza Street on Feb. 24.

William Max Joslin, 42, was shot in his left side when Rodriguez allegedly fired two rounds into Joslin's home on Esperanza Street.

According to Alice Police Department reports, Rodriguez fired the shots just hours after he was released from the Jim Wells County jail. He had been in the jail on drug-related charges, police said.

Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno said Wednesday Rodriguez was stopped for a traffic violation in San Angelo, Texas, Monday and was arrested on warrants connected with the alleged shooting.

Rodriguez was brought to Alice by officers Tuesday and was booked into the Jim Wells County jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He remained in the Jim Wells County jail Wednesday on $50,000 bond.

Bueno said Rodriguez is currently serving a 10-year probation for drug-related charges.
