Time sheet policy amended by commissioners

Duval County Commissioners unanimously approved the appointment of Duval County Judge Abel Aragon as a member to the Community Action Council of South Texas Board of Directors during the monthly meeting held last Monday at the Duval County Courthouse.

In a vote 3 to 1, authorization of the county judge to oversee and manage total operations of civic centers in Duval County was approved. Commissioner Rene Perez voted against the motion.

After discussion, commissioners unanimously voted approval to authorize Judge Aragon to oversee garbage pick-up in the rural areas of the county as well.

In other business, authorization of the county judge to begin negotiation of the purchase of property located on the north corner of Collins and Bexar streets, property known as the Old Garza Funeral Home was approved with Commissioner Nestor Garza abstaining.

Action to amend Section 6.07 of the Duval County Personnel Policy regarding Time Sheet Records was also unanimously approved, amended to read as follows: All official records regarding employment work time, including work time sheet records, compensatory time records, sick leave time records and vacation time records shall be maintained by the Auditor's Office. Failure to turn time sheets into the Auditor's Office shall result in the withholding of the employee's payroll check until such time that the time sheets are received by the Auditor's Office.

Any employee having a question regarding the compensatory time balance should direct the question to his or her department head, officials said.
