Salazar was a war veteran

A one-vehicle rollover near Woodsboro claimed the life of a 58-year-old Alice man Wednesday about 2 a.m., the Department of Public Safety officials said.
Luther Thomas Salazar, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene, after his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer rolled over at 2:19 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 77, about eight miles south of Woodsboro in Refugio County, DPS officials said.
According the DPS, Salazar was southbound on Highway 77, when he drove off the west side of the roadway and overcorrected to the left. He then traveled back on Highway 77 and overcorrected to the right side and the vehicle skid on its side and rested on the truck's roof in the ditch.
The DPS report said Salazar was not wearing his seatbelt and the cause of the accident is not known at this time.
Salazar was a Vietnam veteran and was retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot.
Visitation is Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. and funeral services begin at 2 p.m. at the Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home Chapel in Kingsville.
