A large bundle of marijuana wrapped in plastic was discovered after a deputy with the sheriff’s department attempted to pull over a vehicle when the driver made a U-turn and ran into the brush on County Road 425.
At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Mark Regalado was on routine patrol when he noticed a white Ford F-150 traveling north on County Road 425 behind a silver Nissan Altima.
The truck passed the Nissan and proceeded north on County Road 425.
Regalado attempted to stop the truck, when it stopped to let out a male passenger and continued to Farm-to-Market Road 716 and led the officer on a chase for about seven miles before crashing into a small tree.
About 10 individuals fled from the truck and into the brush. Three women were apprehended and detained until U.S. Border Patrol arrived. When searching the vehicle, a bundle of marijuana weighing 11.2 pounds was located.
The vehicle was registered to an owner out of Houston. No arrests were made and the truck was seized by the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department.
