The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Independent School District Board of Trustees convened from Tuesday through Thursday of last week as they conducted initial interviews with six of the candidates for the superintendent position in the district.
“We have met three nights in a row,” Board President Daniel Bueno said. “We have had some very good, qualified individuals.”
Bueno said BB-PB ISD received 15 candidates for the superintendent position out of which the board then selected the top six following recommendations from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
He said the board met with the two candidates each evening and asked them a series of prepared questions as they narrow down to three finalists.
The board will then conduct followup interviews with the finalists before selecting and announcing a sole finalist for the position.
The board must then by law wait an additional 21 days following the announcement before hiring the sole finalist.
Current BB-PB ISD Superintendent Dr. Grace Everett resigned from her position during the board’s regular meeting in January this year.
She will continue as superintendent for the district until June 30.
