Several bands scheduled to perform

The "Third Annual Freedom Fest" sponsored by the City of Freer will be held this Saturday at the Duval-Freer Airport.

A parade will officially kick off the early July 4th festivities which will begin at 10 a.m. downtown in front of the Coastal Community and Teachers Credit Union, ending in front of the former Freer Medical Clinic on Hwy. 44.

Gates at the airport will then later open at 3 p.m. with lots of fun activities waiting for the entire family to enjoy.

Water slides, moonwalks, bingo sponsored by ConocoPhillips along with arts and crafts booths for browsing will found around the grounds.

There will also be plenty of food and beverage stands available as well.

A lineup of fine musical concert entertainment will be provided by the following bands until midnight: Country Rio from 4 to 4:30 p.m., Conjunto Temblor from 5 to 5:30 p.m., Southern Profile from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with Eric "El Chevalon" Flores at 7 p.m.

The TexMex Kadillaks will perform at 9 p.m. followed at 11 p.m. by Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution.

At 10:30 p.m. a spectacular fireworks display will begin sponsored by Newman Operating Company.

Everyone is encouraged to bring your own chair. No ice chests or outside beverages will be allowed.

Parking is $2 per vehicle. Admission is free.
