There has been no opposition to incumbents over the last 2 years

There will be three city positions on the ballot this year during Orange Grove City Elections. It has been at least two years, according to city records, since the city has held an election for the city council because of a lack of candidates signing up to run against city council incumbents.

The first day to sign up for the city council election is Feb. 11.

Orange Grove Mayor Seale Brand, Councilman Carl Srp and Councilman Noe Aguilar are up for re-election this year.

The sign up for the election begins on Feb. 9, which is a Saturday, but since City Hall is closed on the weekends, the state allows a starting date of Feb. 11.

The sign up period will run through the month of February through March 10.

At that time, if there are no other candidates besides the three incumbents, the council will hold a meeting, as they did last year and the year before, to decide on whether to go forward with the election.

If other candidates do sign up to run, the election will be held on May 10.
