Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Geraldita Martinez, is offering those who owe fines in her precinct an opportunity to come and make arrangements.
If anyone owes a fine in Pct. 1 they are invited to call the office to schedule a day to come and make arrangements to pay their fine. For the entire month of May, says Judge Martinez, those who owe fines to Pct. 1 can come in without fear of arrest.
“What I am trying to do is help out those in my precinct,” Judge Martinez said. “If anyone wants to call or come in between now and the end of May, we are giving them that opportunity.”
Judge Martinez said her precinct has fines owed from all over the area and the state.
“Its not just here in the county that fines are owed,” Judge Martinez said. “Our precinct is owed fines from drivers that live in Houston, Dallas and other parts of the state. We will not be granting any defensive driving dismissals or deferrals, as the time has already passed for those options. My interest is solely on helping out those that chose me to be fair and honest. We will do our part, but if someone owes fines, they need to do theirs.”
Judge Martinez said payment plans are available, but are subject to a state mandatory penalty of $25.
“The State of Texas imposes a mandatory fee of $25 for all payment arrangements made for citations, it is not our office doing it, but state law,” Martinez said. “I want to do everything that I can to help my fellow residents of the area. We all live here, this is a mostly rural area so most of us know each other and I just want to do my part. I promised to be fair when I ran for office and I am doing my best to help everyone that I can.”
Anyone seeking to pay their fines can call Judge Martinez’s office at 279-3322 to check on citations or balances owed.
