A man was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance after he allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, possibly a knife, after she allegedly found video footage of him engaged in sexual acts with different women on his cell phone.
According to the police report, at 12:58 a.m. Thursday Officer Enrique Saenz was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Palo Blanco in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon of a family member.
Upon arrival, Saenz made contact with the victim who "was visibly emotional and shaken." The victim told police her husband, Reynaldo Reyna, assaulted her with what she thought was either a knife or a pair of scissors.
Mrs. Reyna stated that earlier in the day she heard her husband's phone ring. She stated she went through it and found pictures of young, naked girls as well as video footage of her husband engaging in sexual acts with different women.
Mrs. Reyna told police she took the SIM card out of the phone and confronted one of the women earlier that day. She stated she told the woman she was going to show the pictures to her grandparents before leaving.
According to the report, Mrs. Reyna stated when her husband came home, he went to the bathroom "as if nothing was wrong" but then when he came out he "was totally different." Mrs. Reyna described him in the report as "raged, angered about something" as he approached her and demanded the SIM card to his phone.
Mrs. Reyna stated she refused to give the SIM card back to her husband as he continued to "rant and rave," waking their 4-month-old child.
According to the report, Mrs. Reyna told Saenz she picked up her crying daughter and walked outside as her husband continued to argue. She stated he then grabbed her by the hair.
Mrs. Reyna stated she went back inside and was about to place the baby on the bed to change her diaper when she noticed her husband was "lunging at her making a stabbing motion."
According to the report, Mrs. Reyna stated she took a defensive position, placing her left arm out to defend herself when she felt something strike her forearm and slide down to her neck, scratching her. She stated she did not know if it was a knife or scissors "but it was a sharp item."
Mrs. Reyna told the officer her husband then manhandled her, threatening that she "would pay if he went to jail" and that "his 'people' would take care of her" before leaving the residence on foot.
According to the report, as Saenz was standing by with Mrs. Reyna waiting for family members to take her to another location, Officer Michael Hastings advised that Reyna was allegedly at the Kings Inn located at 815 S. Highway 281.
Before leaving, Saenz states in the report he asked the victim if she wished to have a detainer or emergency magistrate's protective order issued on her behalf, but she advised she did not want to add any more problems as her husband threatened her with further violence if police interceded.
According to the report, Reyna was found in the restroom at the location. According to a separate report, Officer Nicolas Juarez found six clear plastic baggies with a white, powdery substance that was believed to be and later field-tested positive for cocaine in one of Reyna's pants pockets.
Reyna was transported to the Alice Police Department for processing. Saenz states in the report Reyna sat quietly during processing, but after several minutes advised he wanted something noted in the report.
Reyna stated, on his own free will according to the report, that he "had done what he had done due to the victim." He stated he had taken some milk home to his baby and his wife had thrown it away, which was what set him off.
After processing, Reyna was transported to the Jim Wells County jail for incarceration. The cocaine was weighed at about three grams and then secured in the evidence locker.
