According to authorities, as Florencia Zulaica, 50, was driving a 2003 Nissan Sentra eastward on Highway 44, a 2006 Chrysler pulled out in front of her vehicle while attempting to make a U-turn on the highway.
"He had pulled over to the shoulder and was turning around, going back west toward Freer and that's when the Nissan came over the hill. It hit the left rear quarter panel of the Chrysler," said lead investigator State DPS Trooper Ruben Soliz.
Soliz said the driver of the Chrysler did not want to be named.
The driver of the Chrysler was cited for unsafe turn at the top of a hillcrest, Soliz said.
Zulaica was transported by Freer EMS to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice with unknown injuries, reports show.
Assisting in the incident was trooper Ronnie Ramirez.
