The tropical depression # 8 is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm over the next day. The storm in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the Texas coast on Saturday.

Local impacts could include maximum sustained winds of around 45 mph near landfall on Saturday.

The total amount of rainfall expected is three to five inches with isolated amounts around eight inches, mainly Friday through Monday. The National Weather advisory stated a possible one foot of inundation might result in minor flooding of area beaches along the Middle Texas Coast and adjacent intracoastal waterways.

The risk for tornadoes associated with this system is low at this time.
