Governor Greg Abbott signed an executive order today that ordered all Texas schools to remain closed for the 2019-2020 school year.

The previous order was until May 4, but was extended in response to stopping the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19); the data shows the virus does not discriminate in age.

This order applies for all public, charter, higher education and private K-12 institutions. All schools must offer an alternative independent and/or virtual study programs to receive state funding.

The Alice Independent School District (AISD) was contacted on the extended closure and Superintendent Dr. Carl Scarbrough released the following statement...

Alice ISD plans to hold a virtual Graduation Ceremony for our Seniors on May 29, 2020. Information and updates are posted on the AISD website, Facebook, and will be sent to parents and students via Remind Messages.

Pending any changes regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have also reserved July 25, 2020 to conduct a traditional Graduation Ceremony for our kids.

It is our sincerest hope that we will be able to have a ceremony that honors our kids and their families for all their years of hard work and dedication as Alice Coyotes.

Stay Alice Coyote Strong!
