Duval County Judge Gilbert Saenz and Duval County Emergency Management Coordinator Sally Lichtenberger confirmed on Monday that a man from Freer has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
This is the first case for Duval County.
The man is between the ages of 65 and 70. He is at his residence quarantined and isolated.
County Judge Saenz did not know if the case was travel related or community related. The investigation by the State Health Department is ongoing.
"We must continue to work together to make sure and prevent the spread (of the virus) and that to continue to follow recommendations and guidelines from the CDC and State Health Department," Saenz said.
