BENAVIDES - Students from Duval County were recognized Monday afternoon at the Benavides Civic Center during a Agua Poquita Soil and Water Conservation District #321 meeting in their honor.
Students participated in a poster and essay contest centered around soil and water conservation. Winners received a gift card and a certificate.
Winners of the poster contest:
First place - Andrea Makayla Saavedra - Norman Thomas Elementary, Freer ISD
Second place - Madison Hinojosa - Norman Thomas Elementary, Freer ISD
Third place - Susan Martinez - Noman Thomas Elementary, Freer ISD
Winners of the essay contest junior division:
First place - Julian Alaniz - Benavides Secondary - also place third in area and will be recoginzed in Victoria
Second place - Joshua Alazo - Benavides Secondary
Third place - Melody Perez - Benavides Secondary
Winners of the essay contest senior division:
First place - Zoe Leora Benavides - San Diego High School
Second place - Corey Lazo - San Diego High School
Third place - Kyrsten Perez - San Diego High School
