On Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. when they were dispatched to the 800 block of Schallart in reference to a disturbance. Officers at the residence came in contact with Sergio Rodriguez and two women outside the residence. One woman proceeded to tell the officers that Rodriguez needed to go to the hospital because she felt he was suicidal. Rodriguez began to get agitated and started to pace back an forth. When officers attempted to calm Rodriguez down he began to shout. Rodriguez kicked, pushed and punched the officers. He also punched a witness on the scene. Officers tased Rodriguez and arrested him. Officers transported Rodriguez to the Jim Wells County jail. He was charged with two counts of assault on a public servant, assault causing bodily injury and resisting arrest.
Birthday gone wrong
Officer Maltida Almanza was dispatched to the 1300 block of Madison on Wednesday, Feb. 19 due to an assault that had already occurred with both parties on the scene. When the officer arrived she was greeted by Juan Soliz at the door. Soliz invited her into the home and made contact with the victim. She asked Soliz to step into another room so she can talk to the victim in private. The victim stated it was her birthday an all she wanted to do was make plans with Soliz. Soliz had other plans already and he became upset with her when she suggested her plans. Soliz grabbed the victim her by her upper right arm causing redness to her arm, grabbed her by the neck and squeezed until she couldn’t breath. Soliz was transported to JWC jail. He was charged with assault impeding breath.
