The 36-year-old suspect in a stabbing that occurred Saturday on Jefferson Street was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Alice police Chief Aniceto "Cheto" Perez.
Police responded to a residence on the 1000 block of Jefferson where they made contact with the victim. The victim told the officers that she had been stabbed by her boyfriend, Victor Mayorga Carranza.
Carranza fled the scene and was later taken into police custody on the 600 block of East Third Street.
According to Perez, the couple is going through a separation.
The victim was taken to the hospital. She had been stabbed eight times in the back and the arm, according to Perez.
Carranza was booked into the Jim Wells County jail. As of Tuesday morning, Carranza had a $7,000 bond.
