The first day of each year will forever be special for Jose Trevino and Alicia Ramirez of Falfurrias.

The newest addition to their family, a baby boy named Cody Lee Trevino who arrived into the world at 11:58 p.m. on the first night of the new year.

The couple’s bouncing baby boy tips the scales at 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 and three quarters of an inch in length.

Ramirez’s water broke at 4 a.m. and they immediately drove to the hospital, roughly a 45 minute drive.

“I was in labor for 18 hours,” Ramirez said. “Out family and friends kept betting he would come on either Christmas of New Year’s.”

With two minutes to spare Cody entered the world to join his three siblings – brothers, Jose Junior and Elias, along with older sister, Kaylinn.

“I kept looking at the clock - like did we make it,” Jose said.

When Cody’s siblings visited their new baby brother, sister Kaylinn didn’t want to let go of him, Alicia and Jose said.

During the visit the four siblings took their first picture together.

After resting comfortably at CHRISTUS Spohn Alice for a little more than a day, baby Cody and his proud parents are set to return home – just in time to celebrate the first weekend of the new decade.
