Video taken at a Whataburger in Bastrop shows a mouse or rat jumping into a deep fryer as a Whataburger employee attempted to remove it.

The video, which has gone viral since being shared early Sunday by Brushawn Lewis on Facebook, was taken while he was waiting in line at the Whataburger restaurant near the intersection of Texas 71 and Loop 150. The video shows one employee offering all customers their money back as the vermin dashed across a kitchen counter. Then, as another employee tries to trap the rodent under a container, the rodent scurries off the counter and lands in a fryer, causing a wave of shock among everyone in the restaurant.

“I’ve seen it all,” Brushawn then says into the camera.

The video has been shared over 37,000 times on Facebook as of Sunday afternoon and has attracted more than 100 comments.

One of those comments was posted by the fast food company itself, saying that they closed the restaurant after the incident and notified pest control.

“While we’ll continue to be very diligent, it’s important to know there was no history of this type incident at this unit and there is no ongoing issue,” the company’s post read.

The Bastrop Whataburger location was reopened Sunday morning, according to an employee.
