ODESSA — An Alice man was injured during the shooting rampage in Odessa - Midland Saturday where 22 people were injured and seven people died, according to a source close to the victim.

Robert Cavazos had been in the Odessa area for approximately a week working with an Alice oilfield company. He had just gone on a lunch break when the shooting broke out.

According to the source, Cavavos' company vehicle was shot at and the bullet struck him in the stomach. He underwent surgery and is recovering, the source said.

Cavazos' family was notified and drove to Odessa to be by his side.

The shooting began after troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect began shooting randomly. Deceased victims range in age from 15 to 57, according to published reports.

Police confirmed that the shooter, 36-year-old Seth Ator of Odessa, was killed by officers at the Cinergy movie theater in Odessa. According to published sources, police have not established a motive for the shootings, but did discover he had did fire from his job Saturday morning.
