A new state-of-the-art marquee sign will greet Alice High School’s students on the first day of school Monday.

The new sign, which will display school events and announcements, went up Friday afternoon. It replaced the old marquee sign in front of the entrance to the high school’s driveway.

The sign as paid for by Prosperity Bank, which has a branch in Alice. Earlier this summer, bank president David Silva notified the Alice school district if the bank’s plans to pay for the project, which came with a price tag of $39,245.

According to Alice ISD, the current marquee was having technical issues and was no longer working to get out important school information.
