The Alice Independent School District board of trustees approved salary increases for all teachers and staff, including an average 10.61 percent raise for teachers, at a special meeting on Tuesday.

The approved salary investment will be part of the district's 2019-20 budget, slated for adoption on Aug. 26, 2019.

The Employee Compensation Plan includes:

Teachers and librarians with one to five years experience receive a raise from $4,200 to $4,400 above their 2018-19 salary, depending on years of experience within the new teacher pay scale.

Teachers with six years and more receive a raise from $4,500 to $5,800 above their 2018-19 salary, depending on years of experience within the new teacher pay scale.

Clerical and paraprofessional, auxiliary and food service employees receive $1.50 an hour above their 2018-19 hourly rate. For employees who work an eight-hour day, this increase will equal between $2,160 and $2,880, depending on the number of scheduled days.

All other professional staff under the administrative pay scale receive $2,000 increase above their 2018-19 salary on the approved administrative pay scale. Counselors receive a $4,500 increase above their 2018-19 salary.

Salary adjustments also included stipends, substitute pay and extra duty pay.

"We are extremely grateful to our board of trustees and Alice ISD staff who positively impact our kids every day," said AISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Scarbrough. "Alice ISD will continue to do all that we can to support our staff and kids."
