Jim Wells County Health South Texas Youth Ambassadors recently traveled to San Angelo to participate in the 2019 Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador Summit. The summit, which took place on Monday, the teens learned about their roles as ambassadors, youth health trends, physical activity and nutrition, connecting agriculture and health, vaping and many other subjects.

The members of HSTYA will be bringing back their knowledge on these, and other, topics to the Coastal Bend. Once home, these students will be teaching and sharing their new found knowledge with community members, especially their peers.

This trip was made possible by the County Extension Office in Jim Wells County. Barbie Wymore, County Extension Agent, was the supervisor on the trip. These students were also sponsored by Senator Juan Chuy Hinojosa, Lindsey Shumway, JWC County Clerk JC Perez and Joe and Annabel Chapa.
