Youngster-run lemonade stands around Alice made more than $6,000 Saturday.

It was part of Lemonade Stand Day in Alice. Organized by the Alice Chamber of Commerce, 17 teams of youngsters set up stands around town for the early part of Saturday. In all, $6,607.76 was made, $1,321.36 of which went to the Alice Food Pantry.

The top-selling team was SES Squeezies, which was set at Prosperity Bank. The team totaled $1,103.60. SJS Saint Squeezers, which was at Edward’s Furniture, was second with a total of $766. The Lemon Squad, which was at Gulf Coast Federal Credit Union, raised $479.

M.A.L.’s Sweet & Sour at Horseshoes Western Wear won the award for Best-Decorated Booth.

The award for best-tasting lemonade went to M.A.L.’s Sweet & Sour. SES Squeezies was second and Zach and the Lemonladies were third.
