State troopers said the stormy weather which blew through Jim Wells County Friday was to blame for an 18-wheeler accident north of Alice.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 281 near the State Highway 624 intersection Friday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, strong winds and heavy rain caused the driver of a northbound 18-wheeler carrying mangoes to veer off the roadway. When the driver attempted to regain control of his rig, he over-corrected and the 18-wheeler flipped.

The accident forced the closure of the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 281.

The driver received medical attention at the scene.
