An early morning chase Wednesday sent a 33-year-old man to jail for violating a protective order.
According to police reports, Amador Garza Jr. was spotted driving in the area of St. Joseph Catholic School before 8 a.m.
An officer on patrol made contact with Garza who knew there was a protective order against him not to be near a family member.
Garza was ordered to get out of his brown Ford F250 pickup, but refused to obey the officer's commands. He took police officers from Alice police and Jim Wells County Sheriff deputies on a chase down several Alice streets.
The chase ended on the 1800 block of Helen Street with Garza's arrest. Garza was arrested without incident and transported to the hospital where he refused medical attention.
Garza was taken to the JWC jail and charged with the violation of the protective order, evading arrest using a vehicle and resisting arrest. He was given a total bond of $6,000.
Police made contact with school officials after the incident and police will be walking through the school throughout the day to secure the safety of the students and facility.
