SAN DIEGO - Child abuse happens regardless of age, race or socioeconomic status. In Duval County, there were 192 alleged victims of child abuse and 47 confirmed cases in 2018, according to the Department of Family and Protective Services.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
On Wednesday, the Duval County Welfare Board along with San Diego residents walked through a portion of the town to raise awareness.
At the end of the walk, members of the community talked about how child abuse affects everyone and how it has impacted their lives as people and as community members.
Mayor Sally Lichtenberger read a proclamation.
