Anjanette Benavides and Mike Cochran were recognized at the Monday school board meeting for their dedication as Alice school board members.
Benavides, who has served on the board for four years, and Cochran, who has served for 10 years, made the decision not to seek re-election for a seat on the Alice Independent School District board.
"Being a board member is a truly a sacrifice. It's a volunteer service they provide to our kids. When you thing about the countless hours and the representation that they put forth for all of nothing," said Superintendent Dr. Carl Scarbrough. "They do it out of the kindness of their hearts and so we are kind of torn because we have two board members that are stepping down."
Monday's meeting was their last full school board meeting for Alice ISD.
