The Easter holiday is a time of colored eggs filled with confetti or candy. Organizations in Jim Wells and Duval Counties are preparing for their annual celebrations.

On Saturday, April 6, the New Foundation Church in Alice and the City of Benavides hosted their Easter celebrations for the community. There was food, a car show and an Easter egg hunt for the children in the communities.

April 13

The Ben Bolt Fire Department will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the Ben Bolt Plaza. Children are urged to bring their own basket. Prizes will be awarded for each age group. The 5th annual Easter Egg Hunt at Silver Star Food Stores, located at 909 South Cameron Street, is inviting the kids of the community. The event starts at 10 a.m. For more information call 361-664-3783. Premont Catcus 4H will have their 20th annual community Easter celebration for children and senior 55 and older. The event is from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. and will be held at the Premont Library Park at 115 South Agnes Street. There will be games, crafts, food and more. The Alice High School Junior Police Academy will have their annual Easter celebration at the Veteran's Park from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. Abundant Life Christian Center of Alice will host the 7th annual Spring Festival and Easter Eggstravaganza for the community. The church is located at 2489 North Texas Boulevard. The event is from 12 p.m. till 4 p.m. There will be an Easter egg hunt, games, cake walk and music. The event is free. April 18

Healthy Horizons Homecare and Hospice, LLC will have an Easter egg hunt at 5:30 p.m. at 1006 East 6th Street for children between the ages of 2 and 12. There will be food, drinks and a bike giveaway. April 19

An Easter egg hunt will be hosted by the Alice High School baseball family for children ages 3 to 10. The event will be from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m. at the Alice HS baseball complex. There will also be refreshments and special appearances by the Easter bunny, and Charlie and CJ Coyote. Children are asked to bring their own baskets. Duval County

The City of Freer is having their annual Easter egg hunt at the Duval - Freer Airport at 6 p.m. There will be over 10,000 eggs and free hot dogs. For more information contact City Administrator Nina Saenz at 361--394-6612. April 13

The Duval County Welfare Board and the City of San Diego will host an Easter Egg Hunt at the Alcala Plaza on Highway 44 from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. Children should have their own baskets.
