The Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office added equipment and technology to the newly opened annex located on Old Kingsville Road. The annex was purchased in 2017.
"It's a big and excellent investment for Jim Wells County," said Sheriff Daniel Bueno. ""To have property to utilize in as many ways as possible and save taxpayers money. We will utilized it by having personnel here, store vehicles and county equipment."
The equipment will allow officers and dispatchers to monitor the premises 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The addition of night vision cameras as well as access control to the premises will be completed in the next few days.
Along with surveillance equipment and access control, the offices will have the ability to communicate back to the JWC Sheriff’s Office through a secured private network. Fiber optic cable along with phones and internet service will allow officers and staff to work out of the offices that now house Sheriff’s Office personnel, Texas Game Wardens, Constable’s Office, and Precinct 4 Commissioner and staff.
The annex sits on almost five acres of land. It is used to store impound vehicles. The annex may eventually house other buildings and storage for use by county officials.
