Man arrested with pills
Ruben Luera was arrested Monday after police discovered him with pills and an unlabeled prescription bottle. An officer on patrol was flagged down on Pierce Street by a woman who stated a man and a woman were having an argument in front of the nearby school. The couple left the area, but the officer located them on the 700 block of South Texas Boulevard and contacted a traffic stop on the Hummer they occupied. The officer patted down Luera and discovered the bottle. He was transported to the Jim Wells County jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Argument send man to jail
An argument erupted between Edward Perez Jr. and the mother of his son Monday at a residence on the 1000 block of Jefferson Street. Perez told police, that his son's mother went to the residence to pick up their son when the argument began. The victim told police that Perez grabbed her arm and scratched her chest. Perez was arrested and taken to the JWC jail. He was charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence.
Police were called to a home on the 700 block of East Third Street for an attempted robbery. When police arrived they made contact with the victim who stated two men entered his backyard. He asked them to leave and one of the men became upset. The victim told police the unknown man pushed him and punched him. The victim fell and the unknown man began to kick him than went through his pockets and attempted to take his necklace. No arrests were made.
