CORPUS CHRISTI - Alice firefighters were some of the Coastal Bend's first responders honored by CHRISTUS Spohn with a photograph in the new Level 2 Trauma Center at Spohn Shoreline Tuesday.

The hospital had a special event inside the new patient care tower which is set to open next month.

When patients and their families walk through the new addition, they will see photos of first responders immortalized on the wall.

"Proud that our firefighters, Captain Amando Tunchez and Firefighter Robert Valdez, were honored today as their pictures are now displayed in the halls," said Alice Fire Chief Patrick Thomas.

The hospital wanted to honor the ways that area first responders impact the lives of South Texas residents. CHRISTUS Spohn unveiled dozens of new photos displays throughout the new emergency department that featured actual first responders from Alice, Beeville, Kingsville, Corpus Christi and more.

These high-quality photos show the men and women in their communities performing life-saving duties in the Coastal Bend.

"It's a way to honor their heroism and to say 'thank you' for all that out emergency responders do each day for the communities they serve," according to the hospital's press release.

"A special thank you to the Spohn System for dedicating the center to the areas first responders that dedicate their lives to serving our communities," Thomas stated.
