BEEVILLE – The Rho Lambda Chapter, Coastal Bend College’s Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society, attended the Texas Regional Convention in Houston, Texas, March 6-10. Honor students from all CBC sites spent Wednesday relaxing and visiting at Main Event Bowling and playing Laser Tag, then spent their Thursday and Friday networking and learning with other Texas chapters at the Texas Regional Convention. Saturday evening was the Texas Regional Awards Gala and Banquet. It has been a good year for Rho Lambda, as the chapter was award with two certificates and three awards. The awards were: Five Star College Certificate, Honors in Action and College Project Certificate, College Project Award of Merit, Most Improved Chapter and Texas Top Chapter Award.

CBC was also awarded a scholarship for one student to attend this summer's Honor's Institute.

"Having shared so much time with this incredible group of students, I must honestly admit that this last year has been one of the most rewarding of my entire career. Yes, I have witnessed hard work among an amazing group of students, but what is most unforgettable for me has been the remarkable self-growth I have seen in each of these young adults," said Christi Morgan, PTK Advisor. "Students who once struggled to speak with faculty, now confidently speak with administrators and community leaders. Students who once doubted their abilities, now realize that through hard work they can truly accomplish anything. Students who once saw themselves as small town people at a small community college incapable of making a difference, now recognize that they have a voice and can make valuable changes in their communities and in their lives."

"Working with this extraordinary group of students has inspired me anew, and I am both humbled and proud to be a part of this amazing chapter. I hope we will continue to grow individually, grow together, and grow as a chapter," added Morgan.
