Alice High School’s theater department gave a preview performance of their one act play on Monday night. The play, Gammer Gurton’s Needle, is a play written in the 16th century, but has been modernized a little bit to appeal to current audiences.

The cast and crew will compete on Thursday, March 21, at Tuloso Midway High School and will be performing second during the competition. Director Darleen Totten urges those who wish to attend to be at Tuloso Midway High School around 12:30 p.m. so that they don’t miss the performance.

Gammer Gurton’s Needle is written in iambic pentameter, meaning that the second and fourth lines rhyme, and focuses on the loss of a very important needle and the characters’ rush to find it.
