When Texas’ Secretary of State, David Whitley, was back in his hometown Monday to speak to high school seniors about the importance of voting, he took advantage and toured Alice.

One of his stops along the way was the Jim Wells County Courthouse. He spoke with County Judge Juan Rodriguez and commissioners.

The Alice native, who is facing a controversial state senate nomination, spoke with about 300 AHS seniors and brought voter registration cards that were specially coded for those voters who are turning 18 before May 4, thereby being newly eligible to vote.
