BENAVIDES - Duval County students were recognized Monday afternoon at the Benavides Civic Center during a Agua Poquita Soil and Water Conservation District #321 public meeting.

Students participated in a poster and essay contest centered around soil and water conservation. Winner received a gift card and a certificate.

Two Freer Independent School District students and one Benavides ISD student won the poster contest.

Winners were first place, Kaeley Torres, second place, Izaiah Ruiz, and third place went to Angel Soto.

Three San Diego ISD students earned first, second and third place in the essay contest. First place was Alexis Strickland, second place was Fausto Soliz and third place was Jon Vera.

Also recognized were Agua Poquita SWCD board members Jose L. Martinez and Adrian Perez for 25 years of service on the board.
