BEN BOLT - Thirty-seven bundles of cocaine were located during a traffic stop Thursday, Feb. 28 on Highway 281 south of Ben Bolt, according to the Jim Wells County Sheriff Daniel Bueno.

A pickup truck was traveling on Highway 281 when investigators, assigned to the JWC Interdiction Division, conducted the traffic stop. The investigators made contact with the 29-year-old driver identified as Eduardo Stevenson.

Stevenson gave consent to search the pickup. Investigators located a non-factory compartment in the bed of the pickup where the bundles had been hidden.

The cocaine bundles had a total weight of 92.5 pounds and had a street value of $925,000 each, according to sheriff investigators.

Stevenson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the JWC jail.
