Authorities seized over $12,000 in cash along with narcotics and a stolen firearm Wednesday at a home on the 800 block of Bluebonnet Street.

What started as a regular knock-and-talk by the Jim Wells County Adult Probation Office turned into a narcotic search.

Alice police and Jim Wells County deputies were called to the residence. They spoke with 31-year-old Marscelo Davila who admitted to having narcotics in the home and a vehicle on the property.

A search of the residence uncovered an envelope with $12,660 in cash. According to police, Davila claimed the money as part of his income tax, but was seized until he has proof that he did not obtain that money "illegally." Davila did not have receipts or bank statements.

Also found in the home was 3.1 grams of synthetic marijuana, 1.7 grams of marijuana, Xanax pills and a stolen firearm.

Davila was transported to the JWC jail.

He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
