With a growing age population falls are always an issue especially for the elderly individuals who live alone.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Cheryl Braun and Veronica Garcia with the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice presented the Alice Rotarians with useful information that may potentially save a life on themselves or someone they love.
According to Braun, an older American adult falls every second with one out of five of those falls causing serious injuries and more than 27,000 people died as a result of a fall.
Braun and Garcia gave tips on how to avoid falls such as searching homes for potential falls such as rugs, animals, high shelves and shower safety.
Alice Rotarians asked about the importance of having a "life alert" system at home. They were provided with a packet of information and products that could be used to prevent a serious injury.
