Because of the United States Armed Forces, all Americans have freedom and liberty, but it can't be done without those brave men and women who enlist and promise to defend their country.
Alice High School grad Bryanna S. Carrillo became a US Marine to protect her country. The 19-year-old graduated from the US Marine Corps Boot Camp in Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on Friday, Feb. 8.
PFC Carrillo was raised in Alice and graduated in 2018. Her parents are Rachel and Joe Placencio, has two sisters, Candace (Mike) Soto and Leeandra Carrillo, and a brother Albert Carrillo.
PFC Carrillo enlisted right out of high school taking an oath to uphold the US Constitution. She successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island that included water training, obstacle courses, rifle training, outside survival training and more.
While in training PFC Carrillo accomplished and achieved platoon artist, sharp shooter and a certificate of excellence.
After her leave, she will report to Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California for a month of infantry training and than she will attend military occupation specialty school.
