Alice police said a man was intoxicated when he walked onto an Alice school and broke a window trying to into a building Friday afternoon.

According to police reports, the man walked onto the Memorial Middle School grounds at about 1 p.m. Friday. He began yelling and injured himself breaking a window as he attempted to enter Wing B of the school. School officials said in a written statement that the man was unable to enter the wing.

According to the school, principal Cristina Lopez first noticed the man walking in the center of the school and responded by immediately activating a campus lockdown and calling Alice police, paramedics and Alice ISD security officers.

According to the statement, no students were exposed to the situation and the entire ordeal from when he was first spotted, later removed by police and the lockdown lifted lasted approximately 30 minutes.
